How To Connect With God

1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Jesus Christ.”

Dear Kids,

Have you ever wondered why you can’t seem to connect with God? You believe that God is real but when you try to talk to Him it seems your prayers never go farther than the ceiling. If this is the case then maybe you need to check your connection.

Getting a Good Connection

Recently we had a personal property auction at the county fairgrounds. I arrived early to set up the equipment. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to hook up our hand held clerking device. When I took out the cord, I became concerned as I noticed that the connection prong was bent. Without this important wire the clerking device and the main computer would not be able to “talk” to each other. I tried to straighten it out and apply duct tape to fix it but to no avail. I then tried a different wire but this did not work either. The connection was gone. Without the correct, undamaged cord I could not get any transmission.

Though we did not have much time, Dad suggested I take the broken wire to the electronic store and try to get it fixed before the auction. Time was running short but I packed it up for this last resort. I drove the short distance and while I waited, the experts repaired the wire. I jumped back in the car and returned to the auction with new hope – our crucial cable was repaired. Sure enough, when I connected the two devices our communication was established, and we finished the auction without a hitch.

How to Connect With God

In today’s Bible verse the Apostle Paul explains that there is only one way to communicate with God. There are no other channels to reach Him, but through the Lord Jesus Christ. His death on the cross provides the way for anyone who believes to connect to the Father. This relationship is what gives us access to God.

When we know Jesus as our Savior there still may be times when we feel that our prayers are unheard. Just as my auction cable was damaged, sin can also disrupt communication with God. Jesus’s death is the answer for this too. In dying He made a way for us to be reunited with the Father. Asking for forgiveness and accepting Christ’s solution can restore fellowship.

Jesus is the Answer

So if you find yourself trying to communicate with God but can’t seem to make the connection, it may be you are using the wrong or a damaged cable. The only way to the Father is through Jesus. He is the answer.

Love,

Mama
