Christ, the Light

Christ, the Light

John 1:9. There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

Light shows us things we would not otherwise see. When Dad and I first got married we lived in an apartment complex in New Jersey. It was quite a large complex with many people living in close proximity to one another.
One night after having lived there for a few months I woke up and needed a glass of water. I went into the kitchen and flipped on the light. To my horror, I briefly saw huge bugs on the counter that scurried away into the cracks and crevices of the cabinets when the light exposed them.I had never seen cockroaches before and could not believe that they had been hiding out in our cabinets without my knowing they were there. Now that I knew I immediately took action. The next morning I called the landlord and impressed on him the need for an exterminator post haste. Those horrible pests were taken care of and I was able to sleep peacefully again.

John calls Jesus the true light who came into the world. When He came His brilliant perfect presence exposed the sin that had corrupted the world. No more could people go on thinking everything was fine because the light showed them the truth. Sinful thoughts, deceitful words and wicked actions that were hiding out in the crooks and crannies of their very being were now brought into view.
Unfortunately men love the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds are evil and like the cockroaches they scurry away into the shadows so they can continue their shameful acts. They think that they will be safe there in obscurity, but they cannot hide. The Light pierces the darkness and judgment will come in due time. Those who practice the truth come to the Light asking for their sins to be exposed and God’s forgiveness. That is what Christ wants.Allow God to flip the switch on your heart today. Call the exterminator immediately. Get the cabinets cleaned and you can sleep in peace.

Love,

Mama
