Now What?

Isaiah 58:11 “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
There are times in life when everything seems to dry up and fall apart. One day everything is going great and the next you are hit head-on by a slew of problems that threaten to crash your world. Our past few weeks have been like this.
Who expected snow in mid-November? I didn’t! Early in the week the temperature was so pleasant. Within hours white flakes had begun to fall and we all ran for our winter coats. As so often happens when the roads are covered, we had a mishap with one of our cars that ended up with the insurance company’s verdict of “Totaled.” This was bad enough, but then we discovered that our truck, the one we have recently invested a fortune in repairs, was having more problems.
What to do? As we have all endured the constant shuffle of the remaining cars, Dad and I have gone over and over in our minds how to solve this problem on limited funds. Do you put even more money into an old truck or finally make the big decision to break the bank by purchasing another, newer one?
It is easy to worry about difficult decisions like this? Whether it is a car situation, a medical situation, or a relationship situation, these and other types of needs can wear you down and sap your strength. These are the times when you must cling to God’s promises.
It was in the midst of all our frustration that I happened to find today’s beautiful verse. As I read it over and over I sensed the Lord’s speaking words of peace in the midst of our challenging circumstance.
How it encourages me, when I feel so incapable of making wise decisions, that God will guide His children. There is so much at stake and yet He promises to guide as we seek Him in prayer and ask for His help.
Not only does He promise to direct our steps but His resources are unlimited. He has the ability to satisfy any and all needs. He tells us to cast our cares on Him, and when we do He lifts the burden and strengthens our weary souls.
These last few weeks have been an opportunity to trust God and take Him at His word. I still don’t know how our car situation is all going to work out, but I have confidence that God will guide our decisions and provide in His perfect timing because He said He would!
Now, who will get to drive the new car?

Love,

Mama

Trusting God in all seasons is something that I am currently working on in my own life. I have both health and financial problems so He is teaching me to trust Him in a big way. I know He will never leave or forsake me. We all have to stand on His word not only in the good but the hard times as well.
