Understanding Beyond Measure

Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure.”
I love to read and learn. The funny thing is that the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know. The knowledge that I gain only draws me to the vast difference between humankind and God. Though some may have an expertise in a certain subject and someone else in another, the Lord’s knowledge and wisdom is limitless in all areas.
God is a master at understanding the human heart. After all, He made us. He sees into the deepest recesses of each person’s being and discerns the broken places caused by sin & circumstances, hopelessness & despair. When we cannot even understand ourselves, He does. Not only does He understand all things, but He has abundant power to help. Nothing is beyond His comprehension or out of His ability to intervene.
Stepping out of the human realm, the Lord has complete understanding of the earth and the universe. Last week we sat in the planetarium at the Creation Museum. As I tried to comprehend all of the constellations and galaxies in our universe, my mind was blown away by the immenseness of the creation. The Milky Way Galaxy alone has over 200 billion stars and that is only a drop in the bucket of the universe’s stars. Yet the Lord who formed all of these determines the number of the stars and gives each of them a name.
Our God has worked each detail of His handiwork to fit together to sustain life. He covers the heavens with clouds from which rain falls. The rain waters the earth and causes grass to grow. The grass feeds the cattle on the hillside which in turn feeds and strengthens our bodies.
All of these wonderful things God has made, understands, and holds together with His power. Yet He takes pleasure in each soul who fears Him and hopes in His steadfast love. This is the great God in Whom we put our trust.
So keep reading and learning, but don’t worry when there is something you don’t completely understand. Revel in the fact that our great God has understanding and power beyond measure. Bring everything to Him in prayer and then rest in His perfect knowledge and might.

Love,

Mama
