A Father’s Love

Significance

A Father’s Love

Psalm 18:30-31 “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God.”
Everyone wants to feel protected and safe. Even those who consider themselves “macho” cherish a place of safety and comfort. These blessings are some of the benefits received from
a good father.
Throughout my life I have always felt safe and cared for. In my younger years most of that was due to the fact that I was blessed with a good and loving father. From the time I was born my dad cared for me, protected me, and loved me. I have many fond memories of long bicycle trips where I would sit perched on a seat in front of my dad. I didn’t have to try to keep up. I just had to sit back and enjoy the view.
I clearly remember a time when our family attended an evening concert. The music was loud and the hour was late. My sleepy eyes could not stay open so I propped my head on my dad’s arm and fell asleep. When the concert was over I could still hear the buzz of all the people talking and trying to exit down the aisle. The thought of having to walk through the press was overwhelming and scary, but I didn’t need to worry. My dad picked me up. I lay my head on his shoulder, and the buzzing disappeared into the air as I fell back to sleep knowing that I would make it home safely.
These recollections and many others have shaped my view of God. Though my dad is not perfect, his kind and loving ways emulated, on a small scale, the qualities that we can experience in our heavenly Father.
Our Creator’s dealings with us are perfect. Everything He does is good and right. When He makes a promise He executes it flawlessly. He is a protective shield and steadfast rock for all who take refuge in Him. Even when He disciplines it is for our ultimate good.
There are many in this world who have never experienced the love of an earthly father. And for those of us who have, this love, no matter how good, is not perfect. But there is a place where anyone can experience protection and safety. It is in the arms of the Almighty God Who is waiting to be the Father we all long for. Lay your head on His shoulder and let the worry of the world disappear.

Love,

Mama
