Broken Links in the Communication Chain

2 Timothy 2:2 “The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

Communication is one of the most important aspects of any campaign. When this crucial link is missing or faulty, a message can be lost or misunderstood and tremendous damage can be done. That is why we must seek to share what God has given us and ensure that our words and our methods of communication are appropriate and clear.

The Apostle Paul had spent most of his life taking the gospel throughout the world. As he approached his last days on earth, he was concerned for the integrity of the truth. He knew false teachers would seek to tarnish the message, and if godly men and women didn’t step up, the spread of the gospel would be hindered. He urged his spiritual son, Timothy, to keep the chain of communication going. By entrusting the things he had learned from Paul to other faithful men and training them to teach the truth, it would remain strong and spread even farther throughout the world. The word we use for this today is discipleship.

In the old days before email and texting, we used to receive important communication by way of a phone chain. One person would start the chain and each participant would call their assigned party to inform them of the message. If one person didn’t follow through, the rest of the chain was left in the dark regarding the information they needed. That was a real bummer!

When we pass on what we know to others and train them to carry on in our place, we add a link to the chain of communication necessary for continuing the communication of the word. This is  done not only by trained leaders, but by all of us who know Jesus as our Savior. As we grow in our relationship with the Lord through personal study, prayer, and sound teaching, we have the responsibility to pass it on.

Let’s keep in mind that we are part of a chain of gospel communication. If you have received the message of salvation in Christ, then faithfully pass it on. There are many family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who also need to hear. Don’t be the broken link in the communication chain.

Love,
Mama
