Choosing Gratitude: How God’s Faithfulness Transforms Thanksgiving
“I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in Him.”
Dear Friends,
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and thoughts of turkey, stuffing, and time with family and friends fill our minds. The cooler weather invites cozy moments by the fire, a warm cup of tea in hand, and reflection on all we have to be thankful for.
Finding Gratitude in Every Season
Living in a broken world can be difficult. As we age, our bodies sometimes fail us. Aches and pains become regular companions. Relationships shift with life’s circumstances. Finances rise and fall with the economy. Dreams linger on the horizon, unfulfilled, and we wonder if they’ll ever come true.
In moments like these, we may feel like the psalmist – stuck in a slimy pit of mud and mire.
The Power of God’s Faithfulness
Yet, despite every struggle, God remains true. God’s faithfulness is one of the greatest gifts we can ever receive.
No matter what we’ve faced this year, the Lord hears our cries. Even when our circumstances don’t immediately change, He reaches down into the depths of our pain and lifts our spirits. He sets our feet on a rock – a firm place to stand. His presence reminds us we are never alone.
From Despair to Praise
When we lift our eyes and recognize this truth, our hearts overflow with gratitude and praise. Those who trust and wait patiently for the Lord are truly blessed. His mercy, love, and faithfulness protect and strengthen us day by day.
It may seem strange to find delight even when life is hard, but we can, because God’s goodness always outweighs our hardships. This life is not the end of the story. One day, we’ll go home to live eternally in a place where there is no suffering, sadness, or pain. That certain hope is something to celebrate now!
Thankfulness That Shines
The amazing thing about gratitude is how it transforms us, and others notice. When we remain thankful in every circumstance, our peace speaks louder than our pain. Others see our joy and may decide to put their trust in the Lord too. What a powerful testimony of faith!
Give Thanks Today
So, this Thanksgiving season, take a quiet moment to reflect. Nestle down by the fire with a hot cup of tea, and give thanks. No matter your circumstances. God is good. He is faithful. And you are blessed.
Love,
Mama
