Counterfeit Thinking

Dear Kids,

Romans 12:2.  “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Our minds are a battlefield. Our enemy, Satan, the Father of Lies,  desires to confuse our thoughts and    lead us from the truth. He uses many tactics to entrap us with wrong thinking. The only way to combat this is to know the truth and to know it well.

The world has many ideas about how to have a successful life.  It says that money, respected position, physical beauty, and power are ways to be happy and fulfilled. Many people yield to the world’s ideas by seeking these things only to find out that it is a lie. Without God none of these things satisfy.  Paul says in today’s verse that rather than being conformed to the world’s way of thinking, we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  Awaken to the truth so you can cast aside the lies.

When we have an auction, we collect quite a bit of cash.  Any bills that are in denomination of $20 or more we always mark with a special pen to make sure they are genuine.  In this way we can be sure that the bills are not counterfeits.  Just as a good cashier tests money to see if it is genuine, you must check everything the world suggests against God’s Word.  By doing this you will renew your mind and be sure to follow the will of God.

Do not conform to the world’s counterfeit thinking. Use the marking pen of God’s Word to transform your mind today.
