Good Pizza and Good Friends

Dear Kids,

Proverbs 17:17a. “A friend loves at all times.”

I have always loved pizza. Often on a Sunday night after church Grandma and Grandpa would order a large pie from Vinny’s pizzeria. There was nothing like dragging a hot slice onto your plate, folding it over, and letting the olive oil run down your chin as you took your first cheesy bite. Since moving to Cedarville, I regularly catch a whiff of the tantalizing aroma of fresh pizza coming from our hometown pizzeria. I was reminded tonight that here in Cedarville, not only do we have good pizza, but we have something even better.
After a long week had ended, Dad suggested that we go out to eat, so we headed out to one of our favorite places to get dinner.  While waiting for a seat we had some nice conversations with friends who also had the same idea. After sitting down and ordering, I looked around at the many posters and pictures on the wall and one caught my eye. It read “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” What a good reminder!
Living in a small rural town has been such a blessing in many ways. One of the best has been the friends that we have made. Friends who are there for you when life gets hard, who forgive you when you make a mistake, who sit with you at sporting events, and just hang out with you when there is nothing else to do are hard to find. The best way to find one is to be one yourself – always loving and always caring.
Cultivate deep relationships and you will never be sorry – because there is nothing like good friends and a good slice of pizza. 🙂

Love,

Mama
