Nature’s Proof that God is the Creator

Nature’s Proof that God is the Creator

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

Romans 1:20

Dear Kids,

There are many people today who would call themselves atheists. Even some people who have grown up in God-fearing homes come to a conclusion that there is no God. This strange belief baffles me. All I need to do is look at the world around me to come to the conclusion that there must be a Master Designer behind all I see. All of this beauty, creativity, and variety could not have appeared on its own. Nature is proof that God is the Creator.

Nature Gives Evidence to a Creator

I have always loved nature! I grew up outside a major city filled with rows of houses and busy city streets, but my heart always longed for the quieter life of the country.

At a young age I started going to a camp set in the rural setting of Pennsylvania, and by age thirteen I was spending my whole summers there working as a member of the camp’s staff. I’ve never lost the thrill of the beautiful grassy hillsides, narrow mountain paths, interesting wildlife, and pitch-black nights illuminated by brilliant stars where the constellations aren’t shrouded in smog or dimmed by the city lights.

When Dad and I got married we moved to Ohio where I was presented with even more sights, sounds, and smells. The landscape was much flatter, and the sunrises and sunsets were glorious. I had never seen either from my childhood home in the suburbs of New York City.

I thought I had seen it all and gathered plenty of evidence to prove the awesomeness of a great and creative God until this week. I now realize more than ever how shallow and insufficient was my view of the Creator.

Costa Rica Shows that God is the Creator

Dad and I have spent the week in Costa Rica with friends familiar with the country. They have taken us outside the touristy spots and introduced us to so much I have never seen. From the moment I stepped off the plane, creation again screamed of the existence and power of our great and powerful God.

The varieties of trees, plants, and fauna lining the windy roads are numberless. The different species of wildlife roaming free were such that I had only seen them in books. They were much more vibrant and interesting in real life.

izards sunned themselves on the rocks by our hotel’s pool. A lazy sloth slowly reached out one long limb after the other to grab the next branch high up in a tree near a local beach we visited. A crocodile rested in the mud under a bridge we passed over. Frisky monkeys chattered in the treetops and perched on the roof of our restaurant. They watched us as we sat high above the ocean, flabbergasted at the beauteous view before us.

Sunsets and Oceans Scream God’s Praise

And the sunsets!!! You have never seen the real thing until you’ve witnessed the expansive splash of peach, orange, red, and pink fading from the sky into the massive Pacific. The frothy waves kept rising up and then doubling over in delightful laughter at my awe and delight. They seemed to be saying over and over, “You had no idea of the extreme greatness and goodness of your God until now. And this is only a taste!”

Even the rows of colorful fruit – many of which I have never seen or heard of before – lining the grocery aisles or piled up at the fruit seller’s roadside shops pointed to the limitless creativity and goodness of a wise and Almighty Creator.

Oh, unbelieving friends, how can you settle for the idea that there is no God? Please open your eyes and look around. Visit Costa Rica if you can. There, as everywhere, the heavens loudly proclaim there is a Master Designer. The very earth screams that the faithful and powerful God is the Creator.

All of these are only a drop in the ocean; evidence revealing the existence of a mighty, sovereign God and pointing to His eternal power and divine nature.

Worship the Creator God Today

Look up, behold the beauty of the world around you, and worship your Creator today!

Love,

Mama
