Christ’s Return – Packed and Ready to Go

“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

Matthew 24:44

Dear Friends,

God’s Word reminds us that Christ’s return could happen at any moment. He warns us to be prepared, as no one knows the exact day or hour. The question is: Are you packed and ready to go?

Preparing For a Trip

Have you ever gone on a trip and had to pack for an extended time away from home? This week, Dad and I have been preparing to go away for longer than we usually do. Let me tell you, it is a lot of work!

First, we have had to spend days catching up and getting ahead on office responsibilities. There is so much to get in order and assign to others to handle while we are gone. Then there is the grass that needs to be mowed at the last minute possible. There is laundry, shopping for supplies, pulling down the dusty suitcases from the attic, and preparing snacks and necessities for the journey. I’m almost exhausted before ever leaving on the trip!

But if we didn’t go through all of these preparations we would regret it. Important tasks would fall through the cracks, clients would be disappointed, the yard would be terribly overgrown when we returned, and we would not have the necessary items to make our trip pleasant and nice. So we put in the effort and make sure it’s all done.

Are We Ready For Christ’s Return

I find it interesting that we are very “on it” when it comes to preparing for an extended vacation. But we often procrastinate when it comes to even more important things.

Jesus came to earth as a little baby many years ago. And someday soon He will return again to take His children home. Only the Father knows the day of Christ’s return. People will be eating, marrying, partying, and doing life as usual and suddenly some will be taken and the others left behind. Those who want to spend eternity with the Lord must be “packed” and ready to go.

There are a few things to consider for this imminent departure. First, we must make sure we are right with God. We must repent of our sins and receive Christ as our Lord and Savior. This is crucial because no sin is allowed in heaven, and no one sees the Father apart from Christ. There will not be time to repent or change your mind at the last minute because his return will come as quickly as the blink of an eye. We must be ready when that day comes!

Secondly, those who sins have been cleansed by the blood of Christ must understand that the time is short to work for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Those who are lazy will be embarrassed and miss out on the reward. So while we have strength we must love others, share the gospel message, give of our time and resources, and worship God with every part of our being. Then when the Lord returns we will not be caught unawares.

Packed and Ready to Go

Whether it’s getting ready for an extended trip or preparing for Christ’s return there is a lot of work that has to be done. Make sure you are in Christ, never lazy, and giving your all for His kingdom. Keep looking for the blessed hope of His appearing. It will come when you least expect it. But when that hour finally does arrive, you will be glad that you are “packed” and ready to go!

Love,

Mama
