What will you sacrifice?
What will you sacrifice?
Dear Kids,

Anyone who has turned on the TV recently has been bombarded with the Olympic Games. It always amazes me as I listen to the biographies of some of the most talented athletes in the world. I am impressed with how much time and energy these competitors have expended training to win an Olympic gold medal for themselves and for their country. What dedicated sacrifice and singleness of mind they demonstrate in forging ahead towards accomplishing this objective.
Today’s verse calls us as Christians to give that same kind of devotion to God. Our whole lives need to be lived in a way that give praise and glory to Him. When we consider the sacrifice the Father made in sending His Son to earth to die for our sins, then it is only reasonable to give our lives wholeheartedly over to Him.
Colossians 3:23-24 states, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord, rather than men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” God delights in His children who do everything, no matter how important or how menial, as a spiritual sacrifice to Him. His reward is a relationship with God and a home in heaven.
An Olympic athlete gives her time, strength, and dedication to her sport hoping to receive the highest prize – the gold medal. What will you sacrifice for the One who gave everything for you?
Give Him your life and one day you will walk on streets of gold.
Love,
Mama
