Are you an earth dweller?

Are you an earth dweller?

Dear Kids,

Hebrews 11:9-10. “By faith he (Abram) lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of  the same promise; for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”

One day the Lord spoke to a man named Abram and called him to leave his country and relatives to travel to a land that He would show him. God promised that if Abram obeyed He would make a great nation out of his family, bless him, and make his name great. God also promised that through Abram’s family God would bless all the earth.
The Bible records that Abram believed God.  He packed his bags, took his immediate family, and went out as the Lord directed him. From that time on Abram travelled from place to place as the Lord led, living in tents.  He had no permanent dwelling here on this earth. He believed God’s promises and they were counted to him as righteousness. Though Abram did not understand how God would accomplish all these things, he chose to believe and live as an alien in the very land that God had assured him he would receive. No more did he desire to live in a man-made metropolis full of sin and riotous living. He was looking for a place designed and built by God. Having responded to God’s call, He was no longer an “earth dweller” but a traveler on his way to the city of God.

Revelation speaks of “earth dwellers” as those who do not believe in God and base their lives around the things of this world – sinful things that are displeasing to God. The “earth dwellers” enjoy the luxuries afforded by sin and never think of leaving. For a time they will flourish in these cities, but in the end it will be their destruction. Abram made his decision to heed the voice of God and I am glad he did because God kept his promise.  It was through Abram’s lineage that God blessed all of the earth by sending His Son, Jesus Christ to the world. Through Christ’s death and resurrection we now have a way to be free from the power of sin.  Now we no longer need to be “earth dwellers.”
The voice of God is calling today. He is asking people to leave their sinful lives behind, accept the salvation afforded by His Son, and follow Him wherever He leads no matter the cost. He has promised a new city in heaven for our home and He always keeps His promises. So what about it? Are you an “earth dweller” or a citizen of heaven? The choice is yours.

Love,

Mama
