Crooked Cat Tails

Crooked Cat Tails

Dear Kids,
Proverbs 4:14-15. “Do not enter the path of the wicked and do not proceed in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on.” (NASB)

Early in the morning I tiptoed down the stairs to spend some time alone with the Lord. As I entered the kitchen I was met by a spectacular sight. The morning sun was just starting to wake up and through the window I saw her. She was dressed all in pink and had begun to illuminate the dusky sky. With raised arms she spread her joy over the horizon and I took a deep breath at her beauty.
In an instant I was running through the cool misty air to retrieve my camera from my car. I just had to get a portrait of this lovely lady. As I jogged through the cool grass a flash of black shot across my path. Our newest kitten had also come out to greet the morning. He made a dash past my feet and under the Chrysler as I opened the door. I grabbed the camera and slammed the car door only to hear an unearthly shriek.
Blackberry, the kitten, who had unfortunately crossed my path at the wrong time, had gotten his tail stuck in the car door. Now he was struggling to free himself but was held fast as his hindmost part was completely fastened in the door frame.
Entirely forgetting about Miss Sunrise who had continued slowly to brighten the day, I quickly opened the car door to free the kitten. He took off like a streak seeming no worse for the wear, but hopefully learning an important lesson. You need to be careful where you walk.
The book of Proverbs gives many important lessons about how to live life. The wisdom recorded here is well worth reading and following. King Solomon, the wisest man in the world, warned his son to follow paths that were safe and upright. He advised his progeny that if he would listen to his words his steps would not be impeded when he walked and when he ran he would not stumble.
“Guard my instruction and do not let her go for she is your life,” the loving father urged. “Do not enter the path of the wicked and do not proceed in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on.”

Do not become involved with those who do wrong. These kinds of people can’t sleep unless they do evil. Wickedness is like food to them and violence their drink. Those who follow them will get hurt because their way is engulfed in darkness causing them to stumble. Instead follow the path of the righteous which is like the light of the dawn. It shines brighter and brighter until the whole sky is illuminated.
Blackberry seems to be ok, but I noticed later in the day that his tail was crooked. He was lucky this time. Make sure you avoid the path of those who do evil. Turn away from them and pass on or you may end up with much worse than a crooked tail.

Love,

Mama
