I am a dreamer. In my head I make big plans about how things should go, and then I strive to make them happen. Often, though, I get discouraged when things don’t work out the way I had hoped. Sometimes circumstances are such that the dream falls flat. Other times I just become exhausted in my efforts and feelings of failure overwhelm me for not being able to make things happen.
I am encouraged when I trade my dismal and self-deprecating thoughts for God’s thoughts about me. I realize that maybe I shouldn’t be making my own plans for myself, but asking God to reveal His plans for me.
This Christmas we received the Casting Crowns CD Thrive as a gift. I have been listening to it in the car on my way to work and have found a new song that I absolutely love. It talks about giving up our own dreams and letting God dream for us. After all, His dreams are so much bigger and better than we could ever imagine. You’ve got to hear my newest favorite song!

I think we would all do well to let God do the dreaming. He knows the plans He has for us – plans to give us a future and a hope – and I know His plans are so much better than we can ever imagine. Why don’t we all give it a try. I can’t wait to see what He does!
