Where do you put your trust?
Where do you put your trust?
I have always loved horses. There is something about the beauty and strength of this majestic creature that has always caught my fancy. When I was young I had a summer job working with horses and I loved to take care of them, ride them and just watch them. I always dreamed of the day that I could have my own horse and a few years ago that dream came true when we brought our Tennessee Walking horse, Sonny, home.
In Bible times horses were more than just pets. They were a measurement of the strength of a kingdom. The more horses and chariots a king had, the greater his power and ability to win battles. In Deuteronomy God gave the Israelite kings specific instructions. One of the guidelines was not to multiply horses to themselves. He did not want them to rely on their own strength and the size of their army but to turn to Him in time of battle to give them victory.
Today we do not consider the equine species our source of strength, but we have other things that we rely on. It is a temptation to build up our bank accounts thinking money will be our help in time of need. We also believe our security depends on our families, our job, or our position. These things will never keep us in times of trouble. As much as I loved Sonny, he died last April. His strength failed in his old age and we had to put him down. So, too, all of the things we rely on today will let us down. There is only one place to put our trust – that is in the name of The Lord our God. He is our strong tower and refuge in time of need.
Turn to Him. He will never fail you.
Love,
Mama
