Call 911 – I’m Having a Stress Attack!

911-Emergency

Call 911 – I’m Having a Stress Attack!

Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.” (NLT)

Stress – a mental, emotional, or physical strain or tension. We all experience it to some degree or another at different times in our lives, but I don’t think I truly knew what it could do until a number of years ago.
During a complicated time in our lives, I began to have a number of physical problems that were very strange for me. I often felt tension in my chest and found it hard to breath. I seemed to be forgetting things and losing my concentration. The panic moment came when I was trying to prepare dinner and could not remember how to cut up carrots. I truly thought something was wrong and wondered if I should call the emergency squad.
I looked on-line for my symptoms and was shocked to see that they all could be caused by stress. Considering the circumstances of that time in my life and my usual good health, I realized this was probably the case. On searching further I found some ways to relieve stress and was amazed that many of the techniques were things God has told us in His word.
Thankfulness is one way to put aside the things that are worrying you. Considering the areas of your life that are going well and being grateful for them takes your mind off what is causing stress. When dwelling on the things that are blessings instead of the problems, your mind can release the anxiety and give you a more positive outlook.
God tells us not to worry about anything but to bring everything to Him in prayer. When we recognize that He is bigger than all our problems we can cast our cares on Him. Instead of trying to figure out how you are going to fix your dilemma tell God what you need – and thank Him for His answer even before it comes. A trusting heart is a peaceful heart.
I put this method to work and have continued to do it throughout the years. When I begin to feel stressed about a situation I go to God in prayer asking Him to intercede for me and help me through my circumstance. Sometimes I have to do this numerous times a day, but I feel His comfort and peace filling my soul as I hand my problems over to Him.
So if you feel a stress attack coming on, don’t call 911. Call out to God in prayer. Tell Him everything you need and thank Him for all He has done and all He will do!

Love,

Mama
