Rewards that Remain

Dear Kids,

Revelation 22:12.  Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

At the end of every school year there are awards ceremonies to attend. I can remember how exciting it was to sit in the audience wondering whether my name would be called to walk to the front and accept a reward for my hard work.
In the past few days I sat through five different ceremonies. I have enjoyed listening to the accomplishments of my children, their friends, and the teachers who have made a difference in their lives. As I watched each one cross the stage it struck me how life keeps moving on. The seniors of this year will never walk across that stage again. Others will take their place and, year after year, life goes on. The trophies and plaques that mean so much now will be forgotten, put in the attic, or thrown away. Often the things that really matter in life are not ever recognized by others.

The things we accomplish in this world may make a mark for a time, but if they are not done with eternity in mind, eventually they will fade away. The only things that will last forever are those things that are done for God in His power. As you accept your awards here on earth for a job well done, make sure you are working towards a heavenly reward that will never fade nor be forgotten.

Love,

Mama
