The Screaming Sky

The Screaming Sky

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens tell of the glory of God. The skies display His marvelous craftsmanship.”

My favorite exercise is walking. I love to tie on my tennis shoes and head down the road at a fast clip.  But I have noticed that I have a bad habit. For some reason as I am walking I keep my eyes focused on my feet. I don’t know if I am subconsciously afraid I am going to stumble, but I will often catch myself with my head down, eyes glued to the pavement.
The other day I was moving along at my usual pace, lost in thoughts about the frustrating circumstances of my day, when I remembered my habit. Deliberately I raise my head and focused my eyes on the scenery around me. The first thing that caught my eye was an amazing expanse of bright blue above me. The azure sky, decorated with swirls of whipped cream clouds, seemed to scream to me to put my dismal thoughts aside and consider the strength, power, and beauty of the Creator of the universe.
I felt my heart lighten as I drank in the beauty all around me. The yellowing corn and beans were framed by majestic trees just beginning to change color. The lofty ones dropped a few leafy petals across my path as a flock of geese flew overhead. A sapphire sky provided the perfect backdrop for the beautiful scene. How could I have been so preoccupied that I almost missed the marvelous craftsmanship the heavens were proclaiming?
Throughout the daily walk of life it is easy to keep your head bowed low, focused on the stone strewn pavement of the journey. But this is not where our focus should be. We need to shift our eyes from  any difficult circumstances that are clouding our vision and lift up our heads! Listen to the voice of the screaming sky. It is telling of the great might and power of the the Lord of Hosts, the King of Glory. There is nothing He can’t handle and He cares for you!

Love,

Mama
