The Great Commission: A Life-Changing Call to Share Christ

 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19

Dear Friends,

Have you ever had a life-changing experience you just couldn’t keep to yourself? When your heart overflows with joy, it’s natural to share – even if you worry about being too outspoken. But when someone with authority gives you permission, that joy turns into a powerful testimony.

My Own Life-Changing Encounter

I remember a life-changing summer I had as a young 20-year-old in the Adirondack Mountains. That’s where I met the love of my life. I can still recall the exact place I was standing, along with the sights, sounds, and emotions of that unforgettable moment. As our friendship deepened, I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. When Dad asked me to marry him, I couldn’t keep the news to myself. My heart overflowed with joy, and I had to tell everyone.

The Disciples’ Transformation Through Christ

The disciples had an even greater story to tell. They had walked with Jesus, seen His miracles, and learned from His teaching. Then they watched in horror as He was arrested, beaten, and crucified. Their grief was overwhelming – until three days later, when women ran in with astonishing news: Jesus had risen! They had seen the angel, the empty tomb, and the living Christ.

Obeying His instructions, the disciples hurried to Galilee. When they saw Jesus alive, they fell in worship. Here on that mountaintop Jesus proclaimed His authority over heaven and earth and gave them The Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” He promised His presence with them always, even to the end of the age.

From Fear to Boldness Through the Holy Spirit

For the next forty days, Jesus proved He was alive. Then, after His ascension, the disciples received the Holy Spirit’s power. From that moment on, they proclaimed the gospel boldly – despite persecution and even death. Nothing could silence their testimony.

The Great Commission: Jesus’ Call to All Believers

And so the book of Matthew ends with The Great Commission, but the story continues. Across centuries, millions have encountered the risen Christ and been transformed. Forgiveness, peace, eternal life, restoration with God – all freely offered through Jesus.

When you experience this gift, you can’t stay silent. How could you?
