Every once in a while one gets a glimpse of what used to be. To the imaginative eye even things that are old and worn out can hold the memory of something grand and maybe even the hope that life can be restored.

There comes a time in most peoples' lives when they feel inadequate for a task. Whether it be a new job, a difficult class, or an uncomfortable relationship, the tentacles of ineptitude wrap around the mind and cause even the most confident to doubt their ability to perform. Even in the Christian's life Satan can use this emotion to catch us unaware and paralyze us from doing what God has called us to.

There has always been the need for good men and women to stand in the gap for others. I was reminded of the sacrifices that many have made for our country the other day. I was running some errands in Xenia and decided to stop by and visit a special person who was turning 90 years old.

Have you ever wondered why certain things happen and other things don't? Why some people make good decisions and others don't? Why certain individuals have a change of mind while others continue to grow hard-hearted? Why some circumstances bring about positive change and other experiences end badly? How could we, as humans, possibly know, but I wonder . . .

Recently while visiting the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, I purchased a calendar that highlights an attribute of God every month. This month the attribute is God's sovereignty. The definition on the calendar is as follows:

Our God is a merciful God! Even when we are at our worst He reaches down to bring us to a place of healing. Though many doubt God's love and care when they experience tragedies and difficulties, you can be sure that God never changes. Even in the trials God's mercy is present.
