Going back to the good old days has taken on new meaning in our house recently. For some reason you kids have become enamored with the old time record players. After acquiring these antiquated pieces of sound equipment, you have enjoyed collecting old albums from days gone by and listening to them like Dad and I did when we were young. I must admit, though, I am not sure I see the value in going back. Listening to recorded music is one of the things that have improved greatly over the years. Why would you want to listen to the golden oldies on a large scratchy device when the new technology takes up less space and is much clearer in sound?

Over and over again God tells us through the Bible that He hears and answers our prayers. Why then do we often give up so easily when there is something our heart desires?

Discipline is a key for any person’s success. When a child is young his parents set about to teach him how to be disciplined. This is a part of the maturing process. Along the way there are others who contribute to the process of learning discipline. For many these people are their coaches.

Life is unpredictable. In the space of a moment circumstances can change. Those who know the Lord recognize that nothing happens by chance. Our great God holds our lives in His hands and all of our times are orchestrated by Him. Many would call these turns of events coincidences, but God’s children know they are not!

There are certain things a person needs to watch carefully. If you don’t you are in for some real trouble!

The word “home” conjured up comfortable feelings of warmth and belonging for many this weekend. Our small town enjoyed an influx of activity as previous students traveled back to enjoy the homecoming festivities at our local high school. On Saturday Abigail's volleyball team played in the second round of the sectional tournament and then dashed home to change clothing, fix hair, and pick up corsages and boutonnieres for the yearly homecoming dance. These memories will stay with them always and hopefully draw them home again after graduating and moving on to other pursuits.
