A Prayer Inspiration
By Sandra Sheridan | | Encouragement, Faith, Prayer, Prayer
George Mueller is a hero of mine. From the time I was a young girl I was impressed with the faith of this man of God and loved any story I heard about his prayers and the answers he received. The other day I read yet another story in L. B. E. Cowman's Streams in the Desert that thrilled me. I want to share it as written in the devotional.
Two Powerful Prayer Partners
By Sandra Sheridan | | Family Life, Help for the Hurting, Holy Spirit, Hope, Prayer, Prayer, Wisdom for Living
While reading about the armor of God last week in Ephesians 6, I was impressed with the importance of praying constantly for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We should continually be on the alert for the devil's schemes, not only for ourselves, but for our family members in the Lord. Though we are not always aware of the temptations each person faces, we must consistently bring them before the Lord asking Him to "lead them not into temptation but deliver them from the evil one."
All That Glitters is Not Gold
By Sandra Sheridan | | Encouragement, Hope, Wisdom for Living
People often come across in one way or another. The outward appearance lends itself to a belief about their personality and character that may or may not be true. What we see on the outside can be deceiving and is often a mask to cover up what is truly going on inside.
Who’s Really Blind?
By Sandra Sheridan | | Encouragement
The glaring sun pointed angry fingers at the well-dressed men emerging from the synagogue. Each one raised a hand to his turbaned brow as a shield from its penetrating beams while straining to see the approaching crowd.
A Favorite Bible Verse
By Sandra Sheridan | | Hope, Wisdom for Living
This is one of my favorite Bible verses. I always get a thrill when I read this story. The Pharisees had been hounding Jesus, plying Him with questions, and trying to trap Him in His words. Yet when He spoke the truth they refused to believe and continued to twist what He was saying.
What Are Your Big Rocks?
By Sandra Sheridan | | Auction, Encouragement, Heaven, Marriage
Last week I listened to motivational speaker and auctioneer, Thomas
"Spanky" Assiter speak about how to grow your business. He spoke about being a "champion" in your avenue of work. "A champion is the best in the world in whatever he does. Society rewards those who are #1 and this is the place that anyone should strive to be." These are the words that he used to motivate us to affirm, visualize, and believe that we can be the champion within our sphere of influence.
The Danger of Pride: What Herod’s Fall Teaches Us About Humility
By Sandra Sheridan | | Knowing God
Herod had power, influence, and the praise of the people—but in one moment, everything changed. Acts 12 reminds us that pride always leads downward, while God's Word continues to spread and flourish. What can Herod's story teach us about humility today?
God Answers Prayer: What Peter’s Escape from Prison Teaches Us
By Sandra Sheridan | | Knowing God
Have you ever wondered if God is working while you wait? Peter's miraculous escape from prison reminds us that God answers prayer, even when we can't yet see what He is doing. If you're waiting on the Lord today, Acts 12 offers fresh hope and encouragement to keep praying.
Where Does God Live? What an Empty Church Taught Me About God’s Presence
By Sandra Sheridan | | Knowing God
Where does God live? An empty church building and Acts 17:24 reveal the surprising answer: God's presence dwells within those who trust in Jesus Christ.
The Hand of the Lord Was With Them: What Acts 11 Teaches About Faithful Obedience

What made the believers in Antioch so effective? Acts 11 reveals one powerful answer: the hand of the Lord was with them. Learn how faithful obedience still invites God's powerful work today.
When God Changes Our Assumptions: Lessons from Acts 11
By Sandra Sheridan | | Knowing God
We all have ideas and assumptions that feel comfortable and familiar. But sometimes God lovingly reveals a better way of thinking. Join me in Acts 11 as we discover what happens when God changes our assumptions and aligns our hearts with His truth.
God Prepares the Way: Lessons from Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10
By Sandra Sheridan | | Knowing God
Have you ever wondered if God is working while you wait? In Acts 10, God orchestrated events in two different places at the same time, showing how God prepares the way long before we understand what He is doing. The story of Peter and Cornelius reminds us that even when we cannot see the whole picture, God is faithfully carrying out His plans.
