A Favorite Bible Verse

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. I always get a thrill when I read this story. The Pharisees had been hounding Jesus, plying Him with questions, and trying to trap Him in His words. Yet when He spoke the truth they refused to believe and continued to twist what He was saying.

What Are Your Big Rocks?

Last week I listened to motivational speaker and auctioneer, Thomas "Spanky" Assiter speak about how to grow your business. He spoke about being a "champion" in your avenue of work. "A champion is the best in the world in whatever he does. Society rewards those who are #1 and this is the place that anyone should strive to be." These are the words that he used to motivate us to affirm, visualize, and believe that we can be the champion within our sphere of influence.

Peace During the Storm

Recently while taking a walk in the gorge near our house I was able to capture on camera a cool picture of a heron peacefully resting by the raging water rushing by. The heron never moved. It just calmly stood by the flowing water as if it did not have a care in the world. What a way to live life!

Continuing Education

Today Dad and I spent the whole day in school. We were in Columbus, Ohio, sitting in classes to help fulfill our real estate continuing education needs. The State requires that every three years each real estate agent or broker completes a designated amount of hours updating their knowledge in the field. This is something that has to be done if you want to keep your license and keep current on the laws in the State of Ohio.

Murder in the Hen House

There was murder in the hen house this week. Monday evening started out like any other evening. The hens had made their way into the coop and found their roosts as usual. After putting our German Shepherd in the big barn and checking on the goats, Dad perused the chicken run. All seemed peaceful and quiet.

Who’s Your Daddy?

Recently we have had a couple of new babies born in our extended family. One of the first questions that goes through my mind whenever I see one of these precious bundles is, "Who does she look like?" In studying the sweet baby face, I usually notice that she has her mother's eyes and father's lips or some other comparison. This is very natural because each baby usually takes on some of the physical characteristics of their parents.
When God Changes Our Assumptions

When God Changes Our Assumptions: Lessons from Acts 11

We all have ideas and assumptions that feel comfortable and familiar. But sometimes God lovingly reveals a better way of thinking. Join me in Acts 11 as we discover what happens when God changes our assumptions and aligns our hearts with His truth.
God Prepares the Way

God Prepares the Way: Lessons from Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10

Have you ever wondered if God is working while you wait? In Acts 10, God orchestrated events in two different places at the same time, showing how God prepares the way long before we understand what He is doing. The story of Peter and Cornelius reminds us that even when we cannot see the whole picture, God is faithfully carrying out His plans.
God Notices Your Faithfulness

God Notices Your Faithfulness: Small Acts, Eternal Impact

God notices your faithfulness, even when your efforts seem small or unseen. Through the story of Cornelius and a childhood memory of serving in a flooded church, this devotional reminds us that God sees our hearts and often works through ordinary acts of obedience in extraordinary ways.
Connection With God Through Jesus Christ

Starlink, Mountain Roads, and Connection With God Through Jesus Christ

When a family getaway in the mountains left us without internet service, a Starlink connection reminded me of a far greater truth: the only lasting connection with God through Jesus Christ comes through faith, not human effort.
Faithful Service for God

The Eternal Impact of Faithful Service for God

Faithful service for God does not always happen on a stage or behind a pulpit. Sometimes it happens quietly through everyday acts of love, generosity, and obedience. The story of Tabitha in Acts 9 is a powerful reminder that God uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways to point others to Christ.
