Christian Devotionals and Scripture Applied to Everyday Life

There are always two perspectives to consider and two sides to every coin, so listen carefully because I have some bad news and some good news.

When you look around at the masses of people populating the earth and are tempted to feel small and insignificant, take another look in the mirror. You are one in a million created for good works in Christ Jesus because you are not part of a mass production. You have been incredibly handmade, stitch on stitch, by the greatest knitter of all time. His product? The incredible handmade you!

At 9:01 AM he walked in the door and tension, like a biting wind, whooshed in behind him. My empty mug was ready for its morning cup of coffee. He was expecting his check, but I had been out of the office the day before and had not had time to listen to his telephone message. This was not a problem as I could quickly prepare the check, but he was not willing to wait for even a minute.

Now that we have come through the holiday of giving and getting, it is time to take inventory . . . not of the gifts we received, but of our attitude towards those gifts.

There are many things one could say about the Christmas season. One of those is that it is a time for eating well! Over the past two weeks Dad and I have attended at least five parties – all of which included delicious food. Goodies and treats have also been streaming into our office as well-wishers stop by to spread holiday cheer. Everywhere you turn delicacies and high calorie treats are being shared so that by the end of this season most people will discover a noticeable increase in their waistline.

People’s words and intentions do not always add up. A kind gesture or pleasant inquiry may mask a less than stellar plot. This was certainly true when the Wise Men of old came to find the baby Jesus in Bethlehem.
