With God All Things Are Possible

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping – believing that he would become the father of many nations.”

Romans 4:18

Dear Kids

Everything is possible! I’ve heard this phrase tossed around by well-meaning influencers seeking to build confidence in their audiences. The words bring a sense of comfort and hope but unfortunately on their own they are meaningless. Some things really are impossible! But the game changes when you insert the powerful God of the universe. With Him there are no impossibilities. “No hope” turns to complete confidence when you put your faith in Him. With God all things are possible!

An Exciting Week – A New Baby

Nana & Pops with Enoch Nathan Sheridan

This has been an exciting week! Wednesday morning we got the news that Nathan and Dalia were at the hospital starting the birth process for their first child. All night and all day we excitedly waited to meet our newest grandson. Finally, early Thursday morning little Enoch Nathan entered the world and our family group chat erupted with joyful congratulations as we celebrated the miracle of birth.

Anyone who has witnessed the arrival of a sweet baby, counted tiny fingers and toes, and gazed into a cherub-like face comprehends the wonder of new life. All births are miraculous, but the Bible tells of a birth that was truly supernatural.

A Supernatural Birth

It had been twenty-five years since God’s promise to Abraham that he would become the father of many nations. Yet Abraham and his wife, Sarah, remained childless. God specifically told Abraham he would father a son by his wife, Sarah. But month after month passed with nothing. The sand in the hourglass slowly drained away until one day the inevitable happened. Menopause kicked in and all hope of a natural birth disappeared.

But Abraham, fully comprehending the hopelessness of the situation, refused to let go. His faith didn’t weaken although his and his wife’s bodies were as good as dead. In fact his faith grew stronger and he was fully convinced that God would make good on His promise.

And He did!

With God All Things Are Possible

At the age of ninety Sarah gave birth to a son. She and Abraham laughed with joy at the impossible made possible through God’s power. Little Isaac proved the faithfulness of God and demonstrated His ability to bring life from death. What a celebration must have taken place on this little boy’s birthday!

But why did God cause Abraham and Sarah to wait so long for the fulfillment of His promise? The delay was to illustrate a powerful spiritual truth. For it would be through Isaac’s descendant that God would bring about the greatest miracle of all. Through Jesus God would make spiritually dead men live.

Hope For All Who Believe

Everything is possible? Not so unless you invite the God of the universe into the equation. For just as Abraham and Sarah experienced, God keeps His promises. With God all things are possible! This truth brings hope to all who believe.

Love,

Mama
