God’s Perfect Timing for Deliverance

God's Perfect Timing

God’s Perfect Timing for Deliverance

“Moses returned to the LORD and said, ‘O Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.’”

Exodus 5:22-23

Dear Kids,

We are such impatient people! We pray and feel confident that God has heard us, but then our problems don’t clear up as quickly as we expect. In the thick of our trial we wonder if we are doing something wrong or if we have misunderstood God. But all along God is working His plan on our behalf and we just need to trust and wait to see the glorious outcome. We can trust God’s perfect timing!

 Moments of Confusion

Even the best of God’s people have moments of confusion when it comes to times of difficulty. Moses took a leap of faith and obedience by visiting the great Pharaoh of Egypt with God’s message.

“Let my people go!,” he boldly proclaimed. But the result did not pan out the way he first expected it would. Pharaoh bristled at the thought of letting this vast workforce escape. He still had projects to complete and besides, “Who was this God Who demanded he release his slaves?”.

 Pharaoh’s Response to God’s Command

In order to show his authority and power, the mighty Pharaoh tightened the screws on the slaves. Instead of providing the materials for his workers, he now required them to go gather the straw used in brick-making themselves, and this without reducing their daily quota. “Make them work harder so they will stop entertaining thoughts of quitting and worshiping anyone other than me,” he commanded his project managers.

The Israelite foreman realized they were in trouble when Pharaoh refused to respond to their reasoning and pleas. So they left his presence in a panic and found Moses and Aaron. What have you done to us? They accused God’s leaders of doing them wrong and making their lives even more unbearable and impossible then before. “May the LORD judge you for your role in our misery!”

Under the wrath of the angry foreman, Moses’ confidence wavered. Had he misunderstood God’s call upon his life? Or maybe he had understood but had done something wrong in the execution of the plan. He desperately called out to God in his despair. “Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has brought trouble upon the people, and you have not rescued them at all.”

 God’s Perfect Timing for Deliverance

But Moses, like us, didn’t understand God’s ways and purposes. He thought that obedience and trust would bring immediate relief and deliverance. But God assured His chosen leader that there was more going on than met the eye.“Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh; Because of my mighty hand he will let them go . . .”  And in God’s perfect timing He not only set the Israelites free, but He also annihilated their dreaded enemy.

Many times in my own life I have felt discouraged as Moses did. I thought I knew what God was asking me to do, and tried to be obedient only to have things get worse. These battles are crucial times in the life of a believer and really test our faith.

Things to Remember While Waiting For God

But we must realize that we are not the playmakers. We are called to do what God asks us to do and then to wait in faith even when things seem grim. God develops the plan, and He will get the glory and the victory in His way and His time. .

We must also remember that we have an enemy and no strong enemy will let go of his dominion easily. Moses was up against a powerful world ruler, but we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our combat is against the powers and rulers of darkness, so we must rely on God’s strength and wisdom instead of our own.

In retrospect the Bible relays to us the powerful way that God set the Israelites’ free and vanquished their foes. Let this be a comfort to you if you are still in the heat of your battle.

Your Deliverance, God’s Glory

Don’t be impatient! Seek God’s instruction. Obey immediately. Then wait with immovable confidence. You, like Moses and the children of Israel, will see God work on your behalf in ways you never could have imagined. Trust God’s perfect timing! In time you will get deliverance and He will get the glory!

Love,

Mama
