Death of the Deep Freezer

I could hear the beeping before I even entered the barn door. I somberly followed the tolling of the death knell until I stood in front of the big white box. Handshaking I lifted the lid. Cool air caressed my face as I peered into the deep recess, but it did nothing to raise my hopes. My fears were confirmed as I reached in and touched the squishy packages that dripped red tears into the pool of blood forming at the bottom of the box. My deep freezer had died!

One Day of Rest – Not Enough!

I kept thinking, "Just one more day until the long weekend," as I dragged my tired body up the stairs last night. It has only been a couple of weeks since summer vacation ended, but it seems like forever. One day the schedule was free and easy and the next we were diving deep into early mornings, packed lunches, homework, and sporting events. Stop the merry-go-round I want to get off!

Wrong Friends, Wrong Choices

When I was in high school I became involved with a group of girls who, I quickly learned, were not making good decisions.  I was eventually put in a difficult position where I had to make some crucial choices. The results could have been disastrous, but fortunately I made the right decision and was spared a lot of consequences.

Goodbye, Muffin Top!

Recently I have started to develop "The MuffinTop Syndrome." When buttoning my pants there is a ring of excess "me" that hangs over the edge of my pants waistline - it looks like the top of a muffin fresh from the oven. Other people, and even my closest friends and family, may not think I am getting soft, but I know that I am not as fit as I should be.

Living Life “Day by Day”

Yesterday I attended a funeral of a lovely woman I wish I could have known better. I was blessed to hear some of the stories of her life and how she walked with God on a daily basis. One of the hymns that we sang took me back to my childhood. As a young girl at camp I learned this particular song and it made an impact on me, becoming one of my favorites throughout the years.

It’s Who You Are With

Saturday night Dad and I went on a date. He had been given tickets to a Reds ballgame and asked me to go. Though I am not a diehard baseball fan, I accepted his invitation with pleasure. I borrowed Emily's Reds teeshirt and we jumped in the car to set off for Cincinnati and our great adventure.
