Living Life “Day by Day”

Yesterday I attended a funeral of a lovely woman I wish I could have known better. I was blessed to hear some of the stories of her life and how she walked with God on a daily basis. One of the hymns that we sang took me back to my childhood. As a young girl at camp I learned this particular song and it made an impact on me, becoming one of my favorites throughout the years.

It’s Who You Are With

Saturday night Dad and I went on a date. He had been given tickets to a Reds ballgame and asked me to go. Though I am not a diehard baseball fan, I accepted his invitation with pleasure. I borrowed Emily's Reds teeshirt and we jumped in the car to set off for Cincinnati and our great adventure.

Are you ready for some beef?

Yesterday was a big day. We took John-Keith, our college freshman, to Wright State University and got him settled in his dorm room. After hauling his stuff up six flights of stairs and later making a fast run to the store to get some forgotten items, we finally got things set up for him to be comfortable.

Want to know a secret?

Secrets, secrets, are no fun unless you share with everyone. This is a crazy saying that has gone around for years. It was probably made up by some school teacher who was trying to eliminate the difficulty of children excluding others by whispering and telling tales.

Harvest Time

It's harvest time in the Sheridan household. The past two weekends our family has spent a lot of time going through our garden patch picking beans, digging potatoes, and plucking corn from the stalk. This time of year is always so fun when you get to enjoy the fruit of all your summer labors. The hot hours of planting, fertilizing, and weeding finally pay off when you get to harvest a nice, ripe tomato and savor a yummy stir-fry made with all home-grown produce.

A Prayer Inspiration

George Mueller is a hero of mine. From the time I was a young girl I was impressed with the faith of this man of God and loved any story I heard about his prayers and the answers he received. The other day I read yet another story in L. B. E. Cowman's Streams in the Desert that thrilled me. I want to share it as written in the devotional.

Jobs of the Levites: Honoring God in Your Job

The jobs of the Levites consisted of taking care of the tabernacle. We also have jobs and should do them heartily for God's glory no matter what.
