All of It All the Time

What is God like? This is a question that many have asked for ages and ages. Because of His greatness there is no way that the human mind can comprehend all that God is. But in the Bible God has chosen to reveal certain things to be true about Himself.

Thanksgiving and Snowstorms

I love Thanksgiving. It is a holiday that directs us to think about things bigger than ourselves without the responsibilities for buying candy, gifts, and trees or making extravagant celebration plans. The menu is laid out pretty much the same from year to year and we focus on being together. And that is what I appreciate most about Thanksgiving – we plan to be together and express our corporate thanksgiving for how God has blessed us.

Thanksgiving in the Night Sky

Recently we attended a Thanksgiving event where the people at our table had a conversation about the vastness of the universe. Our group spoke about the millions of stars and galaxies and discussed how small each human being is in the whole realm of the creation. As we chatted back and forth across the table, I considered the comments. I thought about how big and powerful the Creator God is.

A Love You Can Rely On

God is love. He doesn't just show love or do loving things, but He is love. This is one of the many attributes that God has revealed about Himself in His word. Love is Who God is and that is a fact that we can rely on.

Heed the Warning

I have been very disturbed the past few days. The recent accusations of wrongdoing against Bill Cosby, a very well-known and loved celebrity has caused me and others to stop short and think sober thoughts. Could these charges actually be true? I truly hope not, but who knows?

Guarding Your Heart (and Other Treasures)

Proverbs 4:23 ” Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”   It should have been a day full of celebration, but a monkey wrench was thrown into the midst of the party. Emily turned 21 yesterday and looked forward to a day of pleasant surprises. But only a few…

When God Changes Our Assumptions: Lessons from Acts 11

We all have ideas and assumptions that feel comfortable and familiar. But sometimes God lovingly reveals a better way of thinking. Join me in Acts 11 as we discover what happens when God changes our assumptions and aligns our hearts with His truth.
God Prepares the Way

God Prepares the Way: Lessons from Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10

Have you ever wondered if God is working while you wait? In Acts 10, God orchestrated events in two different places at the same time, showing how God prepares the way long before we understand what He is doing. The story of Peter and Cornelius reminds us that even when we cannot see the whole picture, God is faithfully carrying out His plans.
God Notices Your Faithfulness

God Notices Your Faithfulness: Small Acts, Eternal Impact

God notices your faithfulness, even when your efforts seem small or unseen. Through the story of Cornelius and a childhood memory of serving in a flooded church, this devotional reminds us that God sees our hearts and often works through ordinary acts of obedience in extraordinary ways.
Connection With God Through Jesus Christ

Starlink, Mountain Roads, and Connection With God Through Jesus Christ

When a family getaway in the mountains left us without internet service, a Starlink connection reminded me of a far greater truth: the only lasting connection with God through Jesus Christ comes through faith, not human effort.
Faithful Service for God

The Eternal Impact of Faithful Service for God

Faithful service for God does not always happen on a stage or behind a pulpit. Sometimes it happens quietly through everyday acts of love, generosity, and obedience. The story of Tabitha in Acts 9 is a powerful reminder that God uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways to point others to Christ.
