Starlink, Mountain Roads, and Connection With God Through Jesus Christ

When a family getaway in the mountains left us without internet service, a Starlink connection reminded me of a far greater truth: the only lasting connection with God through Jesus Christ comes through faith, not human effort.

The Eternal Impact of Faithful Service for God

Faithful service for God does not always happen on a stage or behind a pulpit. Sometimes it happens quietly through everyday acts of love, generosity, and obedience. The story of Tabitha in Acts 9 is a powerful reminder that God uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways to point others to Christ.

Do You Need to Change Directions Spiritually? Lessons from Saul’s Life-Changing Transformation

Saul was convinced he was headed in the right direction — until an encounter with Jesus changed everything. Sometimes we also need to change directions spiritually. Discover how God can transform your heart, redirect your path, and give you new life in Christ.

From Spiritual Blindness to Seeing Christ Clearly

Saul could see the road to Damascus clearly, yet he suffered from spiritual blindness that kept him from recognizing Jesus as the Messiah. Sometimes God uses unexpected circumstances to open our eyes to the truth, replacing darkness with the light of Christ.

Do Not Grow Weary in Doing Good: A Lesson from a Slow-Blooming Lilac

For years a lilac bush outside my door produced nothing but leaves. Then one day it bloomed, and reminded me of the powerful truth in Galatians 6:9: do not grow weary in doing good.

Want to know a secret?

Secrets, secrets, are no fun unless you share with everyone. This is a crazy saying that has gone around for years. It was probably made up by some school teacher who was trying to eliminate the difficulty of children excluding others by whispering and telling tales.

Harvest Time

It's harvest time in the Sheridan household. The past two weekends our family has spent a lot of time going through our garden patch picking beans, digging potatoes, and plucking corn from the stalk. This time of year is always so fun when you get to enjoy the fruit of all your summer labors. The hot hours of planting, fertilizing, and weeding finally pay off when you get to harvest a nice, ripe tomato and savor a yummy stir-fry made with all home-grown produce.

A Prayer Inspiration

George Mueller is a hero of mine. From the time I was a young girl I was impressed with the faith of this man of God and loved any story I heard about his prayers and the answers he received. The other day I read yet another story in L. B. E. Cowman's Streams in the Desert that thrilled me. I want to share it as written in the devotional.

Two Powerful Prayer Partners

While reading about the armor of God last week in Ephesians 6, I was impressed with the importance of praying constantly for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We should continually be on the alert for the devil's schemes, not only for ourselves, but for our family members in the Lord. Though we are not always aware of the temptations each person faces, we must consistently bring them before the Lord asking Him to "lead them not into temptation but deliver them from the evil one."

All That Glitters is Not Gold

People often come across in one way or another. The outward appearance lends itself to a belief about their personality and character that may or may not be true. What we see on the outside can be  deceiving and is often a mask to cover up what is truly going on inside.

Who’s Really Blind?

The glaring sun pointed angry fingers at the well-dressed men emerging from the synagogue. Each one raised a hand to his turbaned brow as a shield from its penetrating beams while straining to see the approaching crowd.
